This guide walks you through making your first song with the AI music generator. It takes about a minute, costs nothing to start (no credit card needed, and you get free credits every month), and you'll end with a finished track you can play and share.

There are two ways to begin, shown as tabs at the top of the generator: Describe, where you type an idea and the AI writes the lyrics for you, and Custom, where you write your own lyrics and set your own style. We'll start with Describe, then show you how to put a real person's name in a song with Custom.

Write your own lyrics and put a name in the song

Here's the part most people don't realize they can do, and it's what turns a song into a personal, one-of-a-kind gift. Switch to the Custom tab and you write the words yourself, which means you can drop a real person's name right into the song.

A song with your partner's, friend's, parent's, or kid's name in the chorus isn't just music. It's something made only for them, and it's the kind of gift people keep.

Here's how to make one:

1. Switch to the Custom tab. Instead of describing an idea, you get a full lyrics editor where you write your own words.
2. Write your lyrics and slot in a name. Use the song-structure chips ([Verse], [Chorus], and more) to shape the song, and put the person's name wherever you want it to land. It's the difference between a generic song and their song.
3. Name your song. Use the Title field to name your song, like "For Maya" or "Dad's Anniversary Song".
4. Set the style. Type a free-text style or tap a genre chip (Hip Hop, Rap, Pop, R&B, Lo-fi, and more) to match the mood to the moment.

Then generate, just like before, and you'll get a finished, personalized song with their name sung right into it.

A custom, name-in-the-song track fits almost any occasion:

• Birthday: a song that says their name in the chorus instead of the same old tune.
• Anniversary: your story, set to music, with both your names in it.
